Sachin messaged me this morning to share his exciting news: he cleared the NISM Research Analyst certification with 75% in his fourth attempt. However, this was his first attempt after joining our course, making the achievement even more special for him.
Six months ago, Sachin embarked on his journey to become a research analyst after watching a YouTube video that claimed the exam was easy and didn’t require any special preparation. Taking this advice at face value, he simply read the workbook and attempted the exam, only to fail miserably.
Undeterred, he tried again by preparing from a few question banks but faced time management issues. He would spend most of his time solving practical questions, assuming he could quickly manage the theory-based questions, but this strategy didn’t work out for him either. He began to doubt his numerical abilities, relying heavily on theory and often skipping case studies.

After enrolling, I personally called Sachin at 5:30 PM to provide a comprehensive study plan tailored to his needs. I recognized his primary obstacle was a mental block and a resistance to tackling practical questions. I explained that practical questions have specific answers, making them easier to verify, unlike theory questions, which can be confusing. For instance, when asked about the financial capital of India, you might get confused between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, even though the correct answer is Mumbai. Conversely, in a numerical question like "What is 15 multiplied by 5?" the answer is definitively 75.
Convinced by this logic, Sachin promised to give his best effort towards mastering practical numerical questions. My strategy for him was straightforward: in my mock tests, he needed to score above 90% and complete all numerical questions within the stipulated time without skipping any. With his dedication and our structured plan, he prepared relentlessly for 20 days.
Yesterday, I was thrilled to learn that Sachin had successfully scored 75% in the exam. His success story underscores the importance of having a proper study plan and exam strategy. Attempting the exam multiple times without a structured approach and hoping for a lucky break isn’t the right way to prepare.
